Elder Abuse

As our population grows older so does the horror of elder abuse, both physical and financial.

Physical Elder Abuse occurs when someone over the age of 60 or a dependant aultt is physically harmed by a relative, caregiver nursing home, skilled nursing facility, residential care or assisted living facility. The harm or neglect can be assaults rape, threats, beatings, improper or no supervision, or any act which results in pain, suffering or aniety.

Financial Elder Abuse occurs when someone over 60 years old or a dependant adult has been taken advantage of financially including improper manipulation or fraudulent use of one's property or finances such as bank accounts, checks cash, credit cards or worse yet improperly influencing one to change bank accounts, buy insurance, donating to a phony charity or not providing all goods and services which have been paid or on behalf of the elder or dependant including lack of proper medical care or overcharging for these services.

When the most vulnerable of our citizens have been taken advantage of, this office will fight for their rights without hesitation or reservation.
